Firstly, to clarify, it is not accurate to refer to people with lung nodules as patients. It could be more appropriate to call them “nodule carriers”.
This is because people with small lung nodules usually do not need treatment. Sometimes inflammation may also occur at the same time, which is most often not caused by nodules, and the doctor will treat them with anti-inflammatory drugs.
People with small lung nodules also do not require specific daily care, but regular follow-up of the nodules as recommended by their doctor.
Regular follow-up means that CT scans are repeated at regular intervals over time to dynamically monitor changes of the nodules. The interval of follow-up depends on the individual’s condition and can range from 3, 6 to 12 months.
A lung nodule can develop in different ways. It may be a benign one that gets smaller or even disappears over time. Even if it grows larger, the prognosis is very good with timely intervention.
As mentioned earlier, people with small lung nodules do not need daily care. However, there are a number of things you can do in your daily life that can help with lung nodules and lung health.
- Quit smoking and alcohol;
- Breathe fresh air and stay away from polluted air
- Get enough fresh vegetables, fruits, and water;
- Develop healthy habits and do not stay up late;
- Exercise and reduce straining;
- Avoid colds and flu, as repeated inflammation of the lungs, can stimulate nodules.
